David Stoltz

I like to think that my work has evolved since my constructionist days in Bennington, VT. I think of emerging from abstraction to pictorial. Once the characters arrived in the Utica I and II series they then became an abstract story, travelling through space. The characters, especially “Baby Charlie” became a metaphor for all the characters, that are going along on this journey.

My school years were spent in sculpture and graphics. The graphics became both the background for the characters and also the drawing of Chuck Close and the portraits. For me my work is an endless journey and as I go along this path. The work continues to grow, both through my drawings and my graphic sensibility.
